Metal Ferrules

Apart from high-temperature applications, there are other locations in oil and gas plants where the tubesheet of heat exchangers requires protection, even though the temperature is not as high as that of a sulfur recovery unit (SRU) reaction furnace. For instance, these exchangers can be found in hydrogenation plants, condensers, and other similar locations where the temperature ranges from 300-500°C. In such cases, metal ferrules of different grades can be used, with or without a ceramic part. These ferrules come in various forms and shapes, and a variety of alloys, including Inconel, are used to manufacture them, depending on the application. These metal ferrules play a crucial role in preventing corrosive damage to the tubesheet, thus ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the heat exchanger. The use of metal ferrules in lower-temperature applications is a cost-effective solution that provides the necessary protection against corrosion while maintaining optimal performance. Overall, the use of metal ferrules is an essential component in achieving optimal performance and efficiency in industrial facilities.
